AstroNirnay ("we", "us", or "our") operates the astronirnay.com platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services.

Account information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, mobile number, and password (stored as a secure hash — never in plain text).

Birth details: To generate Kundali and astrology reports, we collect date of birth, time of birth, place of birth, and related geographic coordinates for each profile you create.

Payment information: Payments are processed by PayU. We do not store your full card or UPI credentials. We retain transaction IDs, amounts, and payment status for billing and GST compliance.

Usage data: We collect IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and interaction logs for security, analytics, and service improvement.

Communications: Messages you send via our contact form, support tickets, feedback submissions, and AI chat conversations.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Generate Vedic astrology charts (Kundali), reports, and compatibility analyses
• Provide AI-powered report content and follow-up chat in English and Hindi
• Process payments, issue invoices, and manage refunds
• Send transactional notifications (email, WhatsApp/SMS where enabled)
• Improve our services, prompts, and user experience
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
• Comply with applicable laws including GST and data protection requirements in India

3. Third-Party Services

We share limited data with trusted third parties solely to deliver our services:

• OpenAI: Report text and chat messages (without direct payment data) for AI content generation
• AstrologyAPI: Birth date, time, and location for chart calculations
• PayU: Payment processing — subject to PayU's privacy policy
• Email/SMS providers: Your contact details for transactional messages only

We do not sell your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms. Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel. We conduct regular security reviews and apply input sanitisation, authentication, and rate limiting to protect against common attacks.

Uploaded screenshots and generated PDF reports are stored outside the public web root and accessible only through authenticated routes.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. Audit logs are retained for up to 365 days. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 7).

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (JWT tokens in httpOnly cookies) and session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

You have the right to:

• Correct inaccurate birth details or account information
• Request deletion of your account and associated profiles
• Export your data in a readable format upon request
• Withdraw consent for non-essential communications

Our service allows parents and guardians to create profiles for family members including minors. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children under 13 without parental involvement. If you believe we have collected data from a child improperly, please contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
